Applicants who have earned a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree from a U.S. institution are not required to submit GRE scores. The College of Engineering does not set a minimum GRE requirement.

    Min Overall: 90 or 4.5 (Starting January 2026). BU does not use the individual section scores when reviewing TOEFL scores; we will only review the overall score. We have found that students with specific section scores tend to do better in our programs. Reading: 21 Listening: 18 Speaking: 23 Writing: 22 minimums are not a requirement. If you are slightly below these section scores, but have an overall score of 90 or better, you are eligible for admission to our graduate programs.
